The Good Side Of Being Nigerian

Something strange and funny happened to me on my way to London from Casablanca. The Seat alotted to me, seat 15C happened to be the middle seat with one seat on either sides of it. When I got to my seat, the two women who were supposed to sit on either sides of my seat are already seated. One should be in her early fifty and the other should be in her early twenties all white. So I got there and said 'hi, excuse me'. The early fifty stood up, so I slipped into my seat. The plane was scheduled to take off in the next 20mins. So we just sat there. I, looking around and praying that the take off would be smooth, the early twenty woman pressing her iphone and giggling, the early fifty woman nursing a novel( I've forgotten the name of the novel). It happened that the early fifty woman wanted to direct the over head air conditioner meant for her seat to the appropriate position, she was trying to do it without standing up and height is not really on her side. So, I decided to help her out, since am more advantaged. I turned the knob to different sides asking her when it's ok. At one particular angle, she said it's now ok. She said thank you, I said you are welcome. She asked me which state of America am I from, I asked her in our normal igbo way (answering question with question) why would you assume that I am from America? She said I have a very strong American accent.. At this moment, impulse was telling me to lie and tell her one state in the US but I changed my mind and told her that I am from Nigeria and not America. She cringed, she was surprised... Then she asked me how come I have a strong American accent, I told her that we Nigerians know how to do a lot of things. Immediately she removed her arm from the arm rest we were sharing, shifted to the extreme of her seat. I just smiled and looked at the early twenty girl, I noticed that she did the same thing, then she brought out her ear phone and started nodding. I just smiled, and balanced my arms comfortably on the arm rests I was supposed to share with them. When we were given landing forms, none of them gave me a pen though I asked for it. It was a girl sitting behind me that gave me a pen to fill my form.

Due to their xenophobic attitude they made my journey more comfortable, except for the pen issue though. The only crime I committed was that I am not just a black man, I am also a Nigerian. Maybe if I had said that I am from the US, they would have snuggled to me. Funnily, I found out that they are not even British citizens, but Moroccans. Africans eh.

Kenya Massacre Survivor Hid In Cupboard For 48hrs

A STUDENT who cowered in a cupboard while Islamic
extremists massacred her classmates at a Kenyan university
emerged yesterday after two days in hiding.
Cynthia Cheroitich, 19, a survivor of the attack on Garissa
University College
Cynthia Cheroitich, 19, escaped death by sneaking into the
large closet and covering herself with clothes as the
terrorists rounded up Christians and began shooting them.
She spent almost 48 hours in hiding, sipping lotion to
quench her thirst and praying.
A total of 148 people died in the bloodiest outrage yet
committed by the Somali-based Al Shabaab group in their
increasingly violent onslaught against neighbouring Kenya.
The teenager was still too scared to leave the safety of the
classroom cupboard yesterday morning, fearing the outrage
was still continuing at Garissa University College close to the
border with Somalia.
So security forces had to find a lecturer to persuade her to
come out.
Last night, in hospital, she revealed she did not at first
believe the friendly voices were those of rescuers.
“How do I know that you are the police?” she said she told
them before recognising the voice of one of her teachers.
After Thursday’s massacre the killers called the father of a
victim to taunt him.
Fred Musinai said: “The caller was
using my daughter’s phone.
"He said the Kenyan army had
killed their women and children
and this was a revenge mission.”
Kenya has put a £150,000 bounty
on suspected ringleader
Mohamed Mohamud.
As three new suspects were held yesterday, Al Shabaab
vowed to step up the violence.
“No amount of precaution or safety measures will be able to
guarantee your safety, thwart another attack or prevent
another bloodbath,” it said.
“This will be a long, gruesome war of which you, the Kenyan
public, are its first casualties.”
The outrage has piled pressure on Kenyan president Uhuru
Kenyatta, who is struggling to stem the violence that has
dented the country’s image and destroyed its tourist
industry.
More than 400 people have been killed by Al Shabaab on
Kenyan soil since he took power in April 2013, including 67
in a siege at a Nairobi shopping mall.
Commentators say frequent mass arrests of Kenya’s Somali
population play into Al Shabaab’s hands and fuel
resentment among Muslims.
Survivors of the latest attack said the killers were speaking
Kenya’s Swahili language, rarely spoken in Somalia, making
it likely the raid was carried out by home-grown gunmen.

Is This A Warning from The Men In The Creeks?

Are the Niger Delta militants posing a threat to the incoming
administration of the former Head of State and president-
elect, Major General Muhammadu Buhari as they did to
current and past regimes?
This question has become relevant because, barely four
days after Buhari was declared winner of the Presidential
election, beating incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan,
suspected militants have blown up a major high pressure
gas pipeline at Ighwrenene Community in Delta State,
warning the President-elect that he may have his hands full
in containing the economic sabotage.
The incident allegedly occurred around 2:30 am yesterday.
The economic
sabotage was coming
about one week after
some former leaders
of the Niger Delta
militants threatened
to return to the creeks
and resume their war
against the Nigerian
state in response to
General Buhari’s
election victory over
Jonathan. But
Jonathan’s quick congratulatory message to Buhari even
before INEC, the electoral body, officially declared him
winner doused tension in the land and forced some of them
to retract their words. However, yesterday’s incident made
the situation hazy.
Also, a group of Urhobo youths under the aegis of Urhobo
Gbagbako yesterday claimed responsibility for the March 22,
bombings of the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company,
NPDC, oil pipe lines in Ekiugbo, Ughelli Local Government
Area “on a massive scale.” It said that the aim was to give
vent to their demand for pipe line surveillance contracts.
Nigeria is almost a one- product economy with oil
contributing to about 90 percent of her wealth.
Late former President, Alhaji Musa Yar’Adua had to grant
amnesty to the Niger Delta militants who fought from the
creeks to drive home their demand for derivation and
resource control in the country.
The Federal Government also approved 13 percent
derivation as well as other programmes aimed at cushioning
the effects of degradation occasioned by oil exploration for
the oil producing states.
However, as at 10am yesterday when Saturday Vanguard
visited Ighwrenene Community, an official of the NPDC
accompanied by two mobile policemen were at the scene
making frantic calls on how to extinguish the inferno which
was ravaging the area.
Another official attached to the Pipeline Surveillance Unit,
PSU, in the area who spoke on the condition of anonymity
said that the affected pipeline was a trunk line which convey
the product from Eriemu, Kokori, Afiesere, Uzere, West-End
at Kwale, Ogini, Olomoro and Owhe to the Ughelli Quality
Control Center, UQCC.
Attempts by fire fighters from the NPDC, SPDC and the Delta
State Fire Service departments to extinguish the fire had not
been successful even as one of their trucks got stuck along
the road to the scene of the explosion making access to the
spot almost impossible.
Meanwhile, the Commanding Officer of the 222 Battalion,
Agbarha-Otor, Lt. Col Mathew Oyekola told Saturday
Vanguard that 15 suspects have so far been arrested in
connection with the incident.
Pipeline surveillance contracts: Urhobo youths commence
bombings of oil installations
In a statement yesterday, leader of Urhobo Gbagbako, Priest
Omodjuvwu, said the group carried out the latest round of
bombing along the Afiesere and Ekiugbo axis of the council
area, during which it shut down all the oil fields in Urhobo
and Isoko nations.
Omodjuvwu said, “We have earlier warned NPDC and the
Federal Government on the pipeline surveillance contract to
no avail.
‘’The contract is going on without the inclusion of the
Urhobo, and that is injustice being meted to the Urhobo,
which we will resist to the end. We need the pipe line
surveillance contract now or the bombings will continue.
“We have now commenced bombings of oil and gas
installations in Ekiugbo/Ighrenene/Afiesere areas and we
will continue in an unprecedented scale, until we get the
pipe line surveillance contracts in our area.”
He also, added that the group’s quest for oil contracts was
immediate, in the absence of which the youths would
continue the assault on oil facilities in their domain, without
waiting for the expiration of the 14 days ultimatum earlier
credited to it.
The Federal Government was said to have on March 16,
reviewed its new plan to safeguard the waterways and oil
pipelines by allegedly directing the Police and the Nigerian
Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, to quit the job for
some companies, which had been signed on by the
government.
The companies were reportedly owned by some former
Niger Delta militants and prominent citizens including
Government Tompolo; Mujaheedin Asari-Dokubo, Chief
Bipobiri Ajube (aka Gen. Shoot-At-Sight) as well as the
Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, led by Dr. Frederick Fasehun
and Gani Adams.
About seven companies were said to have been allocated
“regions” or operational areas as follows: Egbe Security River
One (Bayelsa); Gallery Security (Mosinmi -Ore); Close Body
Protection (Edo State); Adex Energy Security(Rivers) ; Donyx
Global Concept(Lagos and Ogun); Oil Facilities Surveillance-
(Delta) and New Age Global Security (Mosinmi-Ibadan).
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), it was
said, would coordinate the jobs.
Nigeria has been battling with huge revenue loss due to
vandalism of oil and gas pipelines.
Dokubo threatens to
resume militancy in
response to Buhari’s
election victory
NIGER Delta militant
leader Asari Dokubo
had threatened to
return to the creeks
and resume his war
against the Nigerian
state in response to
General
Muhammadu Buhari’s election victory over President
Goodluck Jonathan.
On Saturday, Nigerians went to the polls to elect a new
president and Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC,
beat incumbent President Jonathan of the People’s
Democratic Party, PDP. This was even as the Movement for
the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, sent Buhari a
congratulatory message, saying that Nigerians made the
right choice.
However, Mr Dokubo, who earlier promised to unleash
violence on the country if President Jonathan was not re-
elected, promised to return to the creeks, blaming the
Yoruba and Hausa for working against Ndigbo and Niger deltans. Culled from Vanguard.

Election Day Decision

As we go to the polling booths today,we as the electorate have the opportunity to decide what happens for the next four years. Who is going to lead us, a fulani man with a track record of semi autocratic rule or the supposedly lecturer who could not do any significant thing for the last four years or the third option who although she could be a good choice, she is coming out under a party that is so powerless that everybody has already written her off. Personally, I am still on the fence on whether to vote or not to vote. My confusion emanates from the fact that we practically have only two options the supposedly lecturer and the fulani man. I cannot vote for the supposedly lecturer because his four years administration did not have any positive impact whatsoever on my life or the people around me. I cannot vote for the fulani man because he is a fulani man and I think he is too old to become the president of FRN for the next four years and possibly another four years. Also he had been a president before and should not clamour to come out again if he isn't coming out for some clandestine reasons.
I may end up voting for KOWA party, but my vote for them wouldn't be of any consequence because I am very sure that 'the NIgeria factor' would make it impossible for their candidate to win.
Among these three candidates, I know I would never vote the fulani man. I would rather have any of the other two candidates to win.
Be that as it may, I hope and pray for a violent free and fair election today. I hope that whatever would be the result would be a true reflection of the decision of the electorate.

On a less serious note; WHY THE FULANI MAN MUST NOT WIN
I want to ask, if the fulani man should win, will the fulani man's wife make Nigerians laugh and forget their sorrows like the incumbent first lady does? This woman has increased the life span of an average Nigerian.
Examples of her "award winning speeches" include:
1* Nigeria is a great CONTINENT.
2* My husband and Sambo IS good people.
3* I rather KILL myself than commit SUICIDE.
4* My fellow widows.
5* I travelled to abroad to rest in peace.
6* My husband is the best couple on earth.
7* The doctors are responding to treatment.
8* For those who said I speech bad English, I left them for God.
9* Ojukwu is dead, but his Manhood still lives on.
10* Na only you waka come?
11* Chai ! Chai !! Chai !!! This blood we are "sharing"
12* diaris God o...
13* on behalf of N2million I donate my family.
14*To all those who think my husband has failed, I have a question for you. When a child fails an exam, isn't the child supposed to be repeated?
Let us vote the fulani out because His wife cannot make us laugh like the incumbent first lady.

Married Female Teacher Convicted For Having Sex with Her Students

A married female teacher, Erica Lynne Mesa, faces a 22-year
stretch in prison after she was convicted for having sex with
four of her students one after the other, with the boys lining
up to await their turns.
The 28-year-old Mesa who taught Mathematics at Colonial
Forge High School in Virginia, USA, pleaded guilty to two
counts of electronic solicitation of a minor and two
misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a
minor.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, rumors
circulated at the school about the teacher having sex with
students before the school then received an anonymous tip
about Mesa, and the police were called.
She admitted to having sex with 4 students because it made
her feel ‘attractive and wanted.’
Mesa told police that she had sex with one student in her car
in a public parking lot on his 18th birthday.
Mesa also told police that she had sex with teens at her
home when her husband was away. She said that she made
a boy wait his turn in her basement while she had sex with
another boy.

Kill,switch

She called Emeka on phone, saying she have done something very bad to him. He asked her 'how bad'? She said, 'extremely bad'.
She said,'baby promise me you would forgive me, promise me that even if you don't want us to continue this relationship, you would forgive me'. Emeka asked her,'how do u expect me to make promises of forgiveness when I am yet to know what you have done'?
He told her, 'just tell me what you have done, then I would know how and if I would forgive you'. 'just say what it is ok'.
She didn't talk for some while, she was contemplating if it is necessary for her to still tell him. What if he breaks up with her after hearing what she had done? But then she thought about what could be the worst scenario, at most Emeka would be mad and decide to call it quits to their eight month old relationship. Emeka has made her understand that maybe their is love in this world. So if not for anything, she owes him that respect of telling him what happened.
She is having a terrible toothache too, the toothache is really disturbing her. But to her, that's the pains she have to bear for what she had done, she have decided not to take any sort of medication so that the pains would be a sort of punishment for the bad thing she have done.
At this instance, Emeka realised that the call has been going on for a while but she have not said anything . He asked 'are you still there'?
'yeah am here, I have toothache'.
'Is that what you wanted to tell me' Emeka asked her.
'No' she said.
'Ngwaa go on dear, just tell me what it is. I could be mad but I won't kill you'. 'In fact, I can't kill you'.
'Tell me that you love me, tell me. Even if for the last time' she begged him.
Emeka thought about it, and reluctantly told her that he loves her. He just wants her to say what she have done this time around.
'I love you, I really do love you' he said to her.
Then, she dropped the bombshell. She said what Emeka had been suspecting would be what she is going to say, she said ' I had sex with another man today, I have lost your respect, I don't deserve your love again'.
'How did it happen'? Emeka asked her.
'That money I asked you about, I asked this man for it, he told me to come and take it'. 'I went to his house, we had sex, I totally regret it'.
'Please, forgive me but I don't think I deserve to be your girlfriend again', she said.
'Did the man give you the promised money after the act'? Emeka asked her.
'Nope', she said.
'You know what, just call me in the evening so that we would talk about this, I am not in the right frame of mind to talk about this now'.
'OK,but are you angry with me', she asked Emeka.
'Nope, I am happy, I am extremely happy that you fucked another guy', Emeka said and then cut the call.

When he cut the call, so many thoughts began creeping in into his mind. So this girl could do this to me, he thought. Did this said man even use condom? What styles did he use on her? So this girl can go to any extent just because of money, maybe I have not been doing it very well to her. Maybe she isn't serious about this, maybe it didn't really happen. Maybe when I call her, she would tell me that she just wanted to test me. Emeka was devastated, angry and also shocked about what had happened. What does this man look like, is he more handsome? Is he a student or a worker? Is he more masculine? Emeka decided to call her back and ask her about the man, he needed to see what the man looks like. He took out his cell and called her back. She picked in an instant.
'What does this man do for a living'? he asked her.
'He is a politician, according to what he told me' She answered.
'Send me his number now', Emeka told her.
'What do you want to do, Emeka please don't do anything drastic'. She pleaded with him.
'Just send me the number', ok.
'Ok' she said.
'Send it via whatsapp', Emeka told her.
Emeka cut the call and checked his whatsapp to see when she would send the contact. After some minutes, she sent the man's number. Immediately, Emeka copied out the man's number on a paper and then added the number to his contact. This way the man's whatsapp would automatically be in his phone. After saving the number, he checked the whatsapp and saw the man's picture.
The man would be in his early thirties, a little bit heavy set and pot bellied. Emeka was totally disappointed, so because of money my so called girlfriend had sex with this man, he thought. He was infuriated by the fact that this particular girl is someone he had been spending money on. Just that this time he doesn't have. It then mean that if he should end up getting married to this type of girl, she would ditch him for another man if he ever have any sort of financial difficulty. So this girl can't be trusted. He remembers that he had one day pleaded with girl, explaining to her that the worst thing she could do to him is to have sex with another man. He said this because he knows that something like that would totally hurt his ego. He remembered when he started having interest on the girl, what friends were telling him about the girl. The gory, immoral stories they told him about her. But he thought that maybe if he show her some real love she would be willing to drop her bad ways and turn for the good. He believed that the problem she had was inferiority complex, not believing in herself. She is extremely beautiful and she shouldn't have any sort of inferiority whatsoever. He remembered that he had been having sex without protection with this girl, in order to make her understand his level of trust on her. He had been taking risks with his life. What if he gets STD from her? What if he contacts HIV/AIDs? How is he even sure that this man used condom.
He decided to send her a message, he wants to see her ASAP. He typed a message for her on whatsapp, 'I want 2 see u 2Mao'.
'I don't AV money to cum' she replied.
'I don't care,just that I want to see you 2Mao' Emeka typed.
'I will try and cum, please I will', she replied.

The next day, Mandy went to Emeka's self con room. On getting there, she saw him watching movie on his laptop. A friend of his was also there. She greeted the friend, went to where Emeka was seated and stood beside him. He gestured to her to get seated. She sat down, within her she was wondering, what is he going to do to me. Would he break up with her? Would he beat me up, No, he is not going to do that. She knows that Emeka is too cool to beat a girl. He may not even have the heart to beat her. She was just looking at him as he sat engrossed in the movie. He is very handsome, and he is equally intelligent. Why did I even do this? She asked herself. I am no longer worthy of him she thought. Then Emeka still looking at the laptop screen held her hands, stroked them in a way that sent sensations down her spine. She cannot understand how someone's touch can be so magical.
At this point, Emeka's friend left the room. As if Emeka was just waiting for him to leave. He paused the movie, then looked at her the first time that morning. She had to duck the gaze, she can't bear looking directly at Emeka. So she turned her face towards another direction.
Emeka looked her over, she is still strikingly beautiful. He pushed her closer to himself and said to her, 'now tell me everything that happened and how it happened'.
She thought about it, should she tell him what really happened or should she tell him the other version she cooked up while in the bus coming to Emeka's place? She decided to tell him the new version, the version she made up in the bus.
'This man phoned me, he had been chyking me for a very long time now. So he phoned me and was begging me that I should try and see him. He said he likes me so much'.
'Wait, where do you know the man from'? Emeka asked her.
'I knew the man like two years ago'
'I didn't ask when, I asked you where'? Emeka objected.
'I cannot remember where, but I know it's like two years ago', Mandy answered.
'So you are saying that you can't remember where you met the man you fucked', Emeka said.
Mandy ignored the statement and continued with her story.
'So when he said that he likes me so much, I said to him that if he wants to see me that he should help me with some money because I am in dire need of money. He asked me how much, I told him ten thousand naira. He said that money is not his problem. That he just wants us to meet up, that he would give me any amount that I want. He said I should come that evening. I told him that it won't be possible that evening, that maybe tomorrow I would come around and he would give me the money. He told me that he would be attending a meeting the next morning so maybe when I come I should collect the money from the man that owns a shop in front of his house'.
'How come, do you know his place'? Emeka asked.
'Yeah, when I was doing my JAMB lessons, I've seen him going in and coming out from a particular compound', Mandy answered.
'When I got to his house that morning to collect the money, I saw him in front of the compound. In the shop he said I should come and collect the money. He told me that since he still around, he had not given the money to the man. He said that I should follow him upstairs so that he would give me the money. When we got in, he started touching me somehow, telling me that I am very beautiful. That he wants to marry me. I told him that I am not yet ready for marriage. He said that he loved me the first time he set his eyes on me. That I should give him chance in my life that he would give me anything I want. I told him that he should just give me the money we discussed. At this point, he went and locked the door and told me that if I don't want to let him touch me, he would do it to me by force. He held me very tight to himself, and started moving his hands round my boobs. I pushed him away, he scampered towards me and tore my trousers. At this point I started shouting, he then used me'.
'So he forcefully fucked you in his sitting room', Emeka asked.
'Nope, he carried me to his bedroom, that's where he did the act'.
'But you didn't tell me he carried you to his bedroom, when you were telling the story',Emeka added. 'And are you saying that he forcefully had sex with you'? 'Why didn't anybody hear you when you were shouting, why didn't you run away, why did you follow him upstairs'?
Within him, Emeka knew that Mandy is either blatantly telling a bunch of lies or she is withholding some details from him. And he needs to get the whole story, he need to have a clear picture of what ensued before he could apportion blames and punishment.
He drew Mandy closer to himself, kissed her and said to her ' I want to be sure that I won't be pursuing an innocent man, I want to be sure that when you get to the police station that you can tell them exactly what you have told me. I want to be sure that you can tell them what you have told me at the court. So I need you to tell me the truth and nothing but the truth'.
Mandy was looking at him, she knew that he is very serious about this. She thinks it would be better to just tell him the truth. So that if he wants to do something he would know what to do. Saying the truth may even make him forgive her.
'OK I lied small, lemme tell you how it really happened', she said.
'Tell me, just tell me the truth, i nu go', Emeka told her.
'What actually happened was that when we got upstairs, the man said he loves me so much. He said that if I want him to give me the money, that I should make him release. He said that if I could make him ejaculate he would just give me the money and I will go. As he was saying this, he removed his shorts and said that I should stroke his penis so that he would release. I started stroking his penis, he said that I should try harder, I started sucking the penis. After some while, he couldn't release, so he said that we should go to the bedroom so that he would lie down on the bed. Inside the room, I gave him blow-job for some while. He told me that I should remove my clothes so that he could touch me, and that way it would help him release. He started dragging my trousers, I told him that instead of forcing me that I would remove it for him. I pulled off my trousers and my pants. He said he wants to have sex with me that in no time he would release and I would take the money and go. I told him that he must use condom, he said that it is not a problem that he has condoms in the house. He pulled a condom and we did it. But after doing it, I asked him about the money, he said that I should accompany him in the car to Awka so that he would go to the bank and give me the money. I told him that that wasn't what we discussed, he said he does not have money in the house now. He promised me that he would give me the money in the evening when he comes back from Awka. So I dressed up and came home, that was when I decided to phone you'.
'Emeka I am so sorry, I don't know what came over me'. 'Even if you don't want me as your girlfriend again please just forgive me'.
'Are you a prostitute'? Emeka asked her.
'No', she answered.
'Are you a fool'?
'No' she answered.
'Do you think that I am a fool'? Emeka asked her.
'No', she said.
'And the man didn't even give you the money, and you voluntarily fucked him, you went upstairs to his flat, you gave him blow-job, you entered his room and you removed your trousers yourself. What wrong have I done to you? How could you do this to me? So our love is worth ten thousand naira. Mandy, I told you that you can insult me, you can steal from me, you can slap me, but you should never have sex with another guy for whatever reason. Have I never given you anything you wanted up till now? Just because you asked me for money this one time and I don't have it now, what do you want me to do'?
Mandy started crying,'please forgive me, I love you, please forgive me'.
'How can you be talking about Love? Love is when you can be able to have your self control, love is faithfulness among other things' .Emeka added.

Emeka stood up from where they were seated and left the room. He had stopped smoking since six months now, but it is only Dochester that can calm his nerves. He walked to the shop opposite his compound and bought a packet of Dorchester. He's gonna smoke one for this one. As he lighted the first stick, so many thoughts were ricocheting into his mind. But one thing is a K in all the arrays of equation going through his mind; he would kill the man. Apart from every other things he would do about what had happened, he must kill the man that had sex with his girlfriend. He would chop him up and send it to his family, at least for once, he is going to kill for a reason. Since he quit smoking, he had been on a killing spree because killing calms his nerves and now this man has dared him. Emeka doesn't have any other alternative, judgement has been passed. For seeing Mandy's nakedness, the man must to die. Whatever it would take.
